I HATE CATS! Ana shayfa el outat dee malhomsh lazma uslan, but that's beside the point. How many expressions can you use with the word 'CAT'? Can you guess what these expressions mean and know when to use them?

1. A: How did you know I was traveling tomorrow?
B: Dave told me, so the cat is out of the bag!

2. Stop playing cat and mouse with me, because you will never win!

3. Why don't you defend yourself and say something or has the cat got your tongue?!

4. Last night it was raining cats and dogs!

5. Egypt has got quite a few fat cats, but I'm definately not one of them.

6. What happend to you? You look terrible; you look like something the cat dragged in!

7. He chats online when his wife is asleep. You know when the cat is away, the mouse plays.

8. Come on! Let's get on the roller coaster...don't be such a scaredy cat!

9. Don't ask so many questions. Don't you know that curiosity killed the cat?


ANSWERS
1. The cat is out of the bag= when a secret has been told (ser it'al bedoun usd)
2. Playing cat and mouse = trying to defeat someone by tricking them so you can have an advantage (zay cartoon Tom & Jerry...each of them be hawlu yithaku 3ala ba3d 3ashan yiksab)
3. The cat has got your tongue = when someone is annoyed and refuses to answer. usually we use it as a question (Has the cat got your tongue?)
4. Raining cats and dogs = raining heavily
5. Fat cats = an impolite way of saying someone is rich and powerful.
6. Look what the cat dragged in = When someone comes in unexpectedly and usually looks messy or untidy. (drag means gargar:)
7. When the cat is away, the mouse plays = when the person in authority is not around, other people will do what they want.
8. Scaredy cat = a person who gets scared (usually for no reason...khawaf ya3nee)
9. Curiosity killed the cat = You say this when someone is asking too many questions about personal matters maybe.
Next lesson...who knows...maybe about dogs!
